This was recorded somewhere in the 100 levels more towards the back about 5 rows up. The taper responsible for this show is now deceased. the location of the master remains unknown. Nothing fancy was used to record this show. it was just a standard recorder of the day using the internal mics. He was busted a few songs into the scorpions set and had his equipment confiscated. He was given a ticket to claim the gear after the show. they must have forgotten to take the tape, as it was still in the recorder when he picked it up. This 1st generation tape comes from a friend of the taper and he is thrilled to share his copy. The taper would have loved to know that others are enjoying his tapes as he never saw his tapes being listened to by anyone except him and a couple of friends. Had he known how easy it was to do this then he would have been sharing the memories himself. The sound is what you'd expect from a 20yr old tape made with inexpensive equipment of the era. Its a little distorted around the edges, and there is still some hiss. its a little muffled at times as well furthermore, this was recorded quite aways from the stage. The rosemont horizon (Allstate Arena) is not known for its accoustics. All things considered this is an A- show. (john e lee03) |
