Comment:

Sound Quality 9/10 or Ex+

This is an incomplete soundboard recording which I received way back in the early 80's from a guy who lived in Newcastle. I think he had an ad in either the Melody Maker, NME or Sounds and I remember sending money via a "postal order" How long ago is that! I must have bought 20+ tapes off him of various bands back in the day and foolishly (remember the Internet was Sc-Fi or from an episode of Star Trek back then) I would play them in my self fitted car cassette player which didn't take any prisoners. Consequently some have long gone to their maker, however this survived, and what a little cracker it is, there are not too many soundboards out there from 1980 UK tour. The guy from Newcastle told me that he stole the Master tapes from the mixing desk at this gig. Now I don't know whether that is true or not, but this is a direct copy of his tape, so I'm confident in stating that this is a high gen recording of that there is no doubt.

Quality:

Lineage: 1st Gen (probably) Technics C60 tape > Kenwood HI-FI > Computer Syntrillium > Syntrillium for Editing tape > CDEX to Wav > Flac Frontend to Flacs > Here I transfered it via playing it in my "Kenwood" Hi Fi and recording it directly onto my hard drive using Syntrillium. I then used the same program to equalise the wavs without clipping. Also for my own listening pleasure, when I transfered this a few years ago, I merged the two parts of "The Zoo" into one track where the tape flip was. I think I've done a good job. Listening to this back now I can't tell where the flip was, the join is seemless. I have done nothing else to this recording. As to the sound quality well it is direct from the mixing desk, so it does have a dry feel to it, but all instruments and vocals are clear and well balanced (remember this is an unmixed recording)

I'd rate it at 9/10 or Ex+ (trader 'kerb crawler')
